Can I protect a file or a folder that I share with a password?

Yes. When you click the Share button next to a file/folder and select Send Link / Receive Files, a new window pops-up. If you want to protect your shared file/folder with a password, tick the Protect link with password checkbox. The password will appear next to link above. You can also generate a new password or set a custom one.

You can generate a new password by clicking on Generate new password or set a custom password by clicking on Set custom password. A custom password for upload and download links can be between 6 and 16 characters long, and can contain letters and numbers.

Note: “Set custom password” option is only available for users with paid Koofr accounts.

If you are sharing your file/folder using the Add People option, the content is already protected, because you need to have a registered Koofr account to access the file/folder that is shared this way.

Note: For potentially malicious types of files (.exe, .zip., etc.), the password is set automatically and you will not be able to switch it off. Password protection is mandatory in those cases due to antivirus and browser requirements.

Note: Users with free accounts cannot publicly share executables and other commonly malicious files.
