My WebDAV and rclone connections suddenly stopped working. Why?

At Koofr, we strive to provide users with as many features as possible, but safety and security are always at the top of our minds. We have previously advocated and suggested the use of application-specific passwords, instead of your main account password when connecting other services to Koofr through WebDAV or rclone. This not only prevents your account password from being leaked by a third party but also limits the access of any such application.

From January 1, 2021, logging into Koofr with rclone and WebDAV is only possible with application-specific passwords. Your main password no longer works for these connections. Read more in our changelog.

To re-establish your WebDAV and rclone connections, change your settings for any such application and use the application-specific password in your Koofr account when establishing a connection. See how to generate an application-specific password or watch our video tutorial on generating application-specific passwords.

Note: Without an application-specific password, you will not be able to establish a WebDAV or rclone connection to Koofr.
